A seminar on the topics of sports journalism, young reporters and dual career was organised in Zagreb on November 27, as part of the transnational Erasmus+ project Promoting Dual Career through Education of Young Journalists (PRODUCE), bringing together experienced sports journalists, young reporters and event organisers.



Participants were welcomed by Mr Haris Pavletic, 1st Vice-President of the European University Sports Association (EUSA), who highlighted the main successes and challenges of the project and stressed its importance to EUSA.



The President of Sports Press Association AIPS Europe Mr Charles Camenzuli joined online, presenting AIPS Europe, its structure, aims and development, giving an introduction to sports journalism in Europe and globally.


Mr Jura Ozmec, the President of the Croatian Sports Journalists Association gave a short introduction to the Croatian AIPS member (HZSN) and then focused more to the AIPS Young Reporters programme.



Secretary General of AIPS Europe and Sports reporter at the Serbian national Radio & Television Mr Predrag Milinkovic shared large sports events experiences for journalists and stressed the importance of being vigilant as a reporter at all times.



The Vice-President of the Slovenian Sports Journalists Association (DSNS) Mr Gasper Bolhar presented the uniqueness of the organisation, having complete authority over the athlete of the year award in Slovenia; sharing his personal experiences and challenges, also giving some tips to the young reporters.



After the break, EUSA Communications and Projects Manager Mr Andrej Pisl presented EUSA as the leading organisation, and shared the main project aims of the PRODUCE Project, its activities, expectations and plans for the future.



Mr Nenad Ruzic, the founder of Sportindeks Serbia, introduced the initiative of student journalists developing their skills through university sports events in Serbia and in Europe, as well as specificity of university sport events and opportunities.



Media activities of Polish University Sport Federation (AZS) were presented by Board member and media coordinator at the University Sports Federation of Poland Ms Aleksandra Leszczynska, sharing the impressive developments and activities in Poland.



The dilemmas of the Media interest was presented through his personal experiences related to sport by Sports journalist at Radio Capodistria, part of Slovenian national Radio & Television Mr Antonio Saccone.



The voices of young reporters, participants in the PRODUCE project were heard by Ms Ana Vlaski and Ms Vanja Markovic, sharing their personal experiences as young reporters in European sports events.



The event concluded by a panel discussion on sports journalism with participation from Mr Saccone, Mr Milinkovic, Mr Bolhar and Mr Ruzic, opening questions, challenges and opportunities in sports journalism and the young reporters locally and globally.



Moderated by Ms Sara Cetkovic, the seminar was held at the Hotel Academia in the Croatian capital, with a limited number of participants due to Covid-19 restrictions and precautions.



The key objective of the PROmoting DUal Career through Education of young journalists project is to develop and improve skills and educate young reporters through volunteering at European Universities Championships, Games and other larger university sports events, while also promoting dual career of athletes. The project is coordinated by the EUSA Institute (SLO), co-financed by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union, also includes Sports Journalist Association, European Union of Sports Press AIPS Europe (MLT), Academic Sport Federation AZS Poznan (POL), SportIndeks (SRB) and KK Hrvatski Dragovoljac (CRO).
